What is a travel signature? Why do I need it before
traveling outside the U.S.?
Travel Signature is a signature or a stamp given by the Slutzker Center staff to indicate that you have notified the International Student Advisor (ISA) that you will be traveling outside of the United States and verified that you have been maintaining your status in Syracuse University.
A travel signature from the ISA is valid for ONE YEAR (6 months if on OPT). If you are uncertain about your status or are concerned about immigration issues pertaining to your particular case, you may request a travel signature that will be valid for more than one year. Please bring your passport, I-20 or DS-2019, I-94, proof of health insurance and a copy of the most current transcript with you to the seminar to be reviewed.
After attending the Travel Seminar, you will need to leave your I-20 or DS-2019 and other necessary documents to be reviewed. This process may take up to 48 hours, so please consider this time requirement and plan accordingly.
