Interested in improving informal English language skills?
Welcome to our English conversation program!
This program promotes friendship and understanding between our English speaking conversation group leaders and international students, scholars and spouses. It also provides an opportunity to practice and improve your English language skills through informal conversations.
Conversation groups usually consist of 4 or 5 international students and the English speaking group leader, which might be an S.U. graduate student or a local community member. The weekly one hour meetings are held at the Slutzker Center during office hours. This program was founded in 1987 by our beloved Riet Dekleermaeker, who still coordinates the program today.
The program is free of charge. If you would like to join a group, complete the electronic English converstion Group Sign Up form below and submit. The program director will contact you once the groups have been formed.
To help us properly schedule you for a group, please wait until you have set-up a place to live, have a phone number and have registered for classes (for SU students) before you apply. For more information, please write to the Slutzker Center firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the SCIS reception desk.
