  • The  Slutzker Center for  International Services has opened access to CINTAX, the web-based income tax preparation software for filing your
    federal tax forms. CINTAX passwords are now available. The only way to request a CINTAX password is from our website at http://international.syr.edu/Form_CINTAX_
    Password_new.html

    It is important that you complete all fields on the form to receive a password. There is a maximum of 3 – 5 business days  turn around time for the password. 

    There will be two tax seminars to be held in March:
    - Monday, March 9 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm

  • Free Tickets to the 7th Annual Rainbow Banquet
    You are cordially invited to the Sixth Annual Rainbow Banquet

    The Slutzker Center is offering seats, free of charge, to the first 8 people who email lescis@syr.edu to request a ticket (please include a subject of “Rainbow Banquet”). Requests must be received by no later than March 31, 2009. If you are unable to obtain a free ticket, individual tickets for the Rainbow Banquet can be purchased by contacting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center at 315-443-3983 or lgbt@syr.eduIf you are graduating and want to be recognized at the banquet contact the LGBT Resource Center.
  • Students  who  are planning to do an Internship this summer should apply for  Curricular Practical Training ( CPT ) .   The CPT seminar will be held on Wednesdays, March 11  or 25 at 3:00pm at the Slutzker Center.
  • If you would like to request Practical Training authorization (OPT) after your May graduation please attend  an  OPT seminar on Wednesdays, March 11  or  25 at 3:45pm.  Also, you can find all the OPT information and the application process here.
  • On March 18th the PT seminars will be cancelled due to  the Induction Ceremony for new members of Phi Beta Delta, the international honorary society.  Please join us in Hendricks Chapel at 4:30pm for this momentous occasion 
  • Graduate Students who are intending to
    graduate this May 2009
    must complete the File Diploma Request process in MySlice by established deadlines, published as http://gradsch.syr.edu/pdfs/GraduationDeadlines.pdf by the Graduate School. This will activate the certification process and awarding of your degree.

FREE Bus Service for all Syracuse University Students

Student Association is offering FREE bus shuttles to and from Syracuse University, the Regional Transportation Center, and Hancock International Airport for Spring Break.  The bus is scheduled to depart from Schine Student Center approximately every hour, on the hour. It should arrive at the Regional Transportation Center approximately 15 minutes past the hour and at Hancock International Airport approximately 30 minutes past the hour.
However, due to traffic or other unpredictable events, times may vary slightly. Therefore, please plan accordingly, as SA is in no way responsible for missed flights, trains or buses.
Quality Coach Lines will be providing this free shuttle service from campus during the following dates and times:
March 5th (4-9pm)
March 6th (10 am- 9pm)
March 7th (6am- 1pm)

Quality Coach Bus Shuttles returning to campus from Spring Break will follow the same schedule and pick-up from the Regional Transportation Center at 15 minutes past the hour, pick-up at Hancock International Airport at 30 minutes past the hour, and drop-off at the Schine Student Center on the hour.  Return trips
will be running during the following day and times.

Spring Break 2009 - $99 RT Bus Service

Student Association is providing a $99 round trip bus service to four metropolitan areas for this Spring Break. The cities are New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington D.C. The bus will depart from Schine Student Center on March 6th at 5pm and will return from the designated locations of the cities on March 15 at 10am. Tickets can be purchased at Schine Box Office.

Ride the Luge Rocket in Lake Placid!

Experience the thrill of piloting your own semi-enclosed, modified luge sled! You'll shoot through the final 17 heart-pounding, smile-producing curves of the state-of-the-art competition track at the Olympic Sports Complex, reaching speeds up to 60 mph

Cross Country Skiing at Salmon Hills Outdoor Adventure Center - Saturday March 21
Bus leaves from College Place at 12:00pm and returns at 6:30pm.

Price for SU Undergraduate Students:
1/2 day trail pass (no rental equipment) is $11.00
1/2 day trail pass and rental equipment (ski's, poles, boots) is $25.00

Price for all other SU and ESF ID Card Holders:
1/2 day trail pass (no rental equipment) is $26.00
1/2 day trail pass and rental equipment (ski's, poles, boots) is $40.00

Registration deadline is 3/20/09 by 12:00pm.

Daylight Savings Time Starts on March 8 This Year

The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S. Congress in July 2005, extended Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States by approximately four weeks. As a result, DST will start on Sunday, March 8, 2009, and end on Sunday, November 1, 2009.

So, you’ll want to remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to sleep on Saturday night, March 7, so that you’ll be all set for the start of Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, March 8.

Main Desk Assistants Needed

The Office of Residence Life is seeking students to apply for main desk assistant (MDA) positions in our halls for the 2009 summer sessions (MayMester, Session 1 and Session II) and the 2009-2010 academic year.
Students interested in working for the 2009 summer sessions will not need to have a federal work study grant to work. Students working the 2009-2010 academic year will need a federal work study grant. Compensation for the main desk assistant position is $7.50 an hour for summer workers and $7.15 an hour for academic year MDAs.
We would greatly appreciate if you could assist us in identifying individuals who would be strong candidates for the summer MDA position and the 2009-2010 academic year position. Please ask students to apply online at http://orl.syr.edu or to visit any main desk to pick up an application. Applications should be dropped off at any main desk on campus or to the ORL central office located at 111 Waverly Ave. Suite 200.
The application deadline is Monday April 6, 2009.

March 8 - International Women's Day

It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. Started as a political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries (primarily Russia and the countries of former Soviet bloc). In some celebrations, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love to the women around them in a way somewhat similar to Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day mixed together.
In others, however, the political and human rights theme as designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. To learn more about the history of International Women's Day, visit:
