Reduced Hours on Friday, Dec 12
The Slutzker Center for International Services will be closing earlier than usual at 3:30 pm on Friday, December 12 so that the staff can attend a Division of Student Affairs function. The staff including all the advisers will be unavailable at this time, so please plan accordingly.
Daniela Baban Hurrle joins the Staff of the Slutzker Center for International Services

The Slutzker Center is pleased to announce the addition of Ms. Daniela Baban Hurrle to our staff as an International Student and Scholar Adviser as of December 1, 2008. Ms. Baban Hurrle earned a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration at Gannon University in Pennsylvania and is fluent in Russian and Romanian, as well as English. You may also help her practice Spanish, which she is currently studying!
A native of the Republic of Moldova, located between Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, minoring in Political Science and Russian Studies. SUNY ESF Students Take Note
Carolyn Salter, formerly international student & scholar adviser at the Slutzker Center, is now the coordinator of international education at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Her office is in 302 Bray Hall, and her contact information is: cmsalter@esf.edu or 315 470-6691. Carolyn will be providing travel signatures, curricular and optional practical training authorizations, extensions and dependent visa documents for currently enrolled students. Life has just become that much easier for SUNY ESF international students! You are still most welcome to attend the seminars and programs at the Slutzker Center with your Syracuse University colleagues. While we will miss you at Slutzker, we hope you enjoy your convenient new "office" in Bray Hall.
Extended Bus Service for Exam Week
The #344 South Campus shuttle will begin operating 24 hours per day, starting Monday, December 1, and will continue until Wednesday, December 10. The additional trips from College Place to South Campus are scheduled to operate at 3:40 a.m., 3:50 a.m., 4:00 a.m. etc. and will operate every 10 minutes throughout the early morning. University Closed: Dec 24-Jan4
Syracuse University will be closed from December 24, 2008 through January 4, 2009. The Slutzker Center for International Services will be closed as well. New students are encouraged to arrive after January 5, 2009, in time for the orientation program on January 9, 2009 (see international.syr.edu/new students). Current students who need a signature for travel, a new Form I-20 or DS-2019, or authorization for CPT or OPT should plan accordingly.
We will NOT be available in the time period that the university will be closed. Emergency situations should be reported to the Department of Public Safety at 315 443-2224, and they will contact appropriate staff if needed.
Recreation Facilities Winter Break Schedule
The Recreation Facility winter break schedule begins on Friday, December 7 and is available online.
Carrier Dome Novelties Holiday Sale
The annual Carrier Dome Novelties Holiday sale will take place Tuesday, December 9. The sale will be in the Orange Shoppe by aisle 109. Sale hours are from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. All Syracuse merchandise will be 25% off. No other coupons or discount offers may be applied. Please enter the Dome via Gate B.

Additional Travel Seminars Daily until December 23
Due to the high volume of students traveling outside of the United States at this time of the year, the Slutzker Center will offer additional Travel Seminars.
Now through December 23rd, seminars will be held every business day at the Slutzker Center. When you come for the seminar, please make sure to bring your original I-20/DS-2019, passport, visa, I-94 card, and proof of health insurance. Your health insurance should contain medical evacuation and repatriation, if it does not, you must purchase the supplemental MedEx policy, which costs $25/person/year.
