Fall 2008 Early Move-In Information for New International Undergraduate Students with University Housing Assignments (and the very few graduate students who might have university housing)
NEW International Undergraduate Students will be allowed to move into their assigned housing as of Friday, August 15, 2008. They may pick up their keys to their rooms at the desk of their assigned residence hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Students who move in prior to Tuesday, August 19, will receive a charge of $24.50 per night on their bursar bill; As of Tuesday night, no extra charges will be added.
In order to qualify for early arrival housing between 8/15 and 8/19, you must fill out the Early Arrival Housing Request Form immediately. The official deadline was Friday, July 25, 2008, but the Housing Office is still processing claims if they are received immediately. Your Early Arrival Housing Request Form should be submitted as an email attachment and sent to housing@syr.edu.
Upon submission and processing of the Early Arrival Housing Request Form, you will receive (via your syr.edu email) an official move-in pass from the Housing Office. This pass MUST be presented at the residence hall main desk or South Campus check in.
On the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), keys must be picked up between noon and 4 p.m. in the residence hall.
On Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19, keys will be available at the residence hall from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If students arrive (or plan to arrive) earlier than August 15, they must email the Early Arrival Housing Request Form to housing@syr.edu at least 3 days in advance of their arrival. If there is space, you will be allowed to stay in the Marion/Watson residence hall at a cost of $24.25 per night, plus $9.00 for linens, if they need to rent linens.
North Campus: Students arriving between August 4 and August 15 will be housed at Kimmel and Marion Halls and MUST relocate to their Fall 2008 housing assignment on Friday, August 15. Check out time on August 15 is at 9:00 am.
Early Arrival Procedures
North Campus: You can check in at the main desk of Shaw Hall, located at 775 Comstock Ave. starting Friday, August 15, at 9 am. All other times are listed on the early arrival memo.
South Campus>: graduate and law students can check in starting August 15, between 8:00 am and 4:30pm at 206 Goldstein Student Center, for Slocum Heights Apartments. All other times are listed on the early arrival memo.
